The 105th International Women’s Day celebration gained an extraordinary momentum this year with the hosting of the ‘18th Global Women Leaders Conference’. Organized by Datamatix at the Burj Al Arab, the conference dawned upon the participants with a mega forceful panel of speakers and current topics challenging and of concern to the global women leaders.

The conference, on its first day, commenced with the opening keynote on International Women’s Day by Fawzia Hassan Gharib, Assistant Undersecretary for the Educational Operations from Ministry of Education – UAE. She enlightened the audience with her though provoking experiences and journey and inspired the young women leaders to take a strong stance in aspiring for senior leadership positions and lend a good hand in leading the nation to the global forefront.
Mr. Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director of Datamatix introduced the eighteenth edition of the conference to the women leaders and talked about the journey that the conference has successfully covered and transpired as one of the most successful women leaders events regionally and globally. His opening presentation drew reports from the global GDPs and the contribution of women leadership to the growing economy and inspired the next generation of women leaders to aspire and acquire international senior leadership positions.
Haniyeh Yousofpour, Ph.D. Assistant Professor - Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from Canadian University at Dubai spoke on the global leadership criteria and women leaders’ empowerment in international positions. In her capacity as a knowledge provider she elaborated on the various training and coaching programs that would better position the next generation of women leaders to know and understand the world organizations and prepare their future roadmap in accordance to that. She also elaborated on global criteria and skills required to attain those senior leadership positions.
It was followed by a presentation on ‘Empowering Women Leaders in Diversified Industries’ by Noor Shamma Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Based on her wealth of experience in branding, marketing and corporate communications through a number of senior roles within government entities, her presentation focused on the leadership roles that require strategically varied approaches based on the industry. She also explained how her role in diversified industries has better positioned her as an active contributor to the regional and global economy.
The coffee break and networking session was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Empowering Women Leaders in Senior Positions and Corporate Board Member’. It was chaired byLaila Faridoon, Executive Director, Chairman's Office from Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai; Raja Al Mazrouei Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications and Development, Commissioner of Data Protection from Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); Lubna Qassim, Group General Counsel & Company Secretary of Emirates NBD; and Mirna Sleiman, Business Development Director - Strategic Relations of Thomson Reuters.
The day concluded with 2 case studies from Emirates Digital Association for Women. The CEO of EDAW, Dr. Manar Abu Talib and the President Dr. Shayma Alkobaisi presented their experiences and journey as senior leaderships in the organizations and asserted on the valuable lessons that they learnt while climbing the corporate ladder to the top positions.
Day 1 concluded with an interactive Q & A session with the speakers and audience that raised many key issues, questions, and comments on global women leadership and success criterion in the 21st century.
